Pfizer

Pfizer is an American pharmaceutical company headquartered in New York City. Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart founded it in Brooklyn in 1849, and it first made chemicals and later antibiotics. The company reports results in dollars and has many manufacturing sites in the United States and Europe. Its Brooklyn plant helped produce penicillin for the Allied forces in World War II.

The company develops and sells medicines and vaccines for heart disease, cancer, infections and inflammatory conditions. Its products include Lipitor, Viagra, Eliquis and the Prevnar vaccine. With BioNTech it produced one of the first approved covid-19 vaccines.

Pfizer bought Seagen in 2023 to add cancer treatments. It has research sites in the United States and Europe and sells in over 100 countries. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Its pipeline includes cancer drugs and vaccines. Albert Bourla has been chief executive since 2019. Competitors include Merck, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson.
