Wix

Wix is a website building service. Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami and Giora Kaplan founded it in Israel in 2006. The company is based in Tel Aviv and went public on Nasdaq in 2013.

Users pick a template or describe a site to an AI tool, then edit pages with a drag-and-drop editor. Wix hosts the finished site and handles the domain, security certificates and updates. Free plans show Wix ads, and paid plans remove them and add features.

Business tools include online stores, booking systems, restaurant ordering and email marketing. Wix Studio is aimed at agencies and freelancers who build sites for clients. Velo lets developers add custom code. The company also runs a payment product called Wix Payments and has acquired Base44, a tool for building apps with AI prompts. Wix has several hundred million registered users, according to its own filings. Its main office is in Tel Aviv, and the company is listed on Nasdaq. It competes with Squarespace, GoDaddy, WordPress and Shopify for small business sites.
