HP Inc. sells personal computers, printers and related supplies. It was formed in 2015 when Hewlett-Packard split into two companies. HP Inc. kept the PC and printer business, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise took the servers and services side.
The original Hewlett-Packard was founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard in a Palo Alto garage. That garage is often called the birthplace of Silicon Valley. HP Inc. continues the brand and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
Its product range includes Pavilion, Spectre and EliteBook laptops, along with LaserJet and OfficeJet printers. Ink and toner sales bring in a large part of its profit. The company also sells monitors, workstations, gaming PCs under the Omen name and large-format printers for design and packaging. Enrique Lores led the company as chief executive for several years. HP also sells services such as Instant Ink, a subscription that ships cartridges as needed. It competes with Dell, Lenovo and Apple in computers, and with Canon, Epson and Brother in printing.
