HubSpot sells customer relationship management software and tools for marketing, sales and support. Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah, who met at MIT, founded it in 2005 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They coined the term inbound marketing, which means attracting customers with useful content.
The platform is organized into hubs. Marketing Hub covers email, landing pages and ads. Sales Hub tracks deals and contacts. Service Hub manages help desk tickets, and Content Hub supports websites and blogs. A free CRM serves as the entry point, and paid plans add features.
HubSpot went public in 2014. It runs a large partner network of agencies and publishes free guides and courses through HubSpot Academy. The company is based in Cambridge, with other offices in Dublin and other cities. Yamini Rangan became chief executive in 2021. The company offers tools for small businesses and for large enterprises, and a free tier draws new users. It reports results in US dollars and trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
