Ubisoft is a French video game publisher based in Saint-Mande, near Paris. The five Guillemot brothers founded it in 1986 in Brittany. It grew through acquisitions and by opening studios in many countries, including Canada, China and the United Kingdom.
Its main series are Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, Just Dance, The Division and Prince of Persia. Many of its games are set in large open worlds with detailed historical or modern settings. Ubisoft Montreal is among its biggest studios. The company also runs the Ubisoft Connect service and a subscription called Ubisoft+.
In recent years Ubisoft has faced workplace misconduct allegations, delays on several projects and falling share prices. In 2025 it announced a new subsidiary with investment from Tencent to hold some of its major franchises. The Guillemot family remains the main shareholder. Yves Guillemot is chief executive. Ubisoft runs the Ubisoft Forward showcase and has studios in cities like Montreal, Paris, Barcelona and Shanghai. The group has also expanded into film and television adaptations of its games.
