Zara is a Spanish clothing retailer and the largest brand of the Inditex group. Amancio Ortega opened the first store in A Coruna, Spain, in 1975. Inditex is headquartered in Arteixo, Galicia.
Zara sells clothing, shoes and accessories for women, men and children. It is known for moving new designs from sketch to store in a few weeks and for refreshing stock often. Other Inditex brands include Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius.
The group runs thousands of stores in dozens of countries and sells online. Much of its production is placed with suppliers in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Turkey, among other countries. Inditex is listed on the Madrid stock exchange. Inditex gathers customer feedback from stores to guide new designs. Zara has stores in major shopping streets in most large cities. The group does less advertising than most fashion companies and relies on store locations.
