Datadog sells a monitoring platform for cloud software. Olivier Pomel and Alexis Le-Quoc founded it in New York in 2010. Both had worked together at Wireless Generation and saw a gap between developers and operations staff.
The platform collects metrics, logs and traces from servers, containers and applications. Dashboards and alerts show when something slows down or breaks. Datadog connects with a very large set of services and tools through ready-made integrations.
Products also cover application performance monitoring, real user monitoring, security signals and cost tracking for cloud accounts. Bits AI is the assistant that helps engineers investigate incidents. Datadog went public in 2019. Customers range from small startups to large enterprises. Its headquarters is in New York City, in the New York Times Building. The company competes with Dynatrace, New Relic, Splunk and Grafana. It reports revenue in US dollars and trades on Nasdaq. Datadog holds a yearly conference called DASH, and it publishes open source tools, including the agent that runs on customer hosts.
